Turbo timers are used to prolong the life of your turbocharger.

By allowing the engine to idle for a period after use, it allows both the turbo and the engine oil to cool extending the life of both. Having a turbo timer offers the driver the convenience of not having to stay with the vehicle whist it is cooling down. The turbo timer will shut the engine down automatically once the allocated time has been reached. Fitting of a turbo timer is essential if the vehicle is towing or is being driven hard. The extra load placed on the turbo during this time increases heat, which in turn needs to be cooled prior to shutting the vehicle down.
